About the Role
As a Security Engineer at Dandelion Labs, you were the guardian of everything we built. Startups trusted us not just to build their products, but to build them securely — especially important when they're handling user data, processing payments, or facing serious technical due diligence. You embedded security into our development process, conducted audits, and ensured that when our clients claimed their product was secure, they were telling the truth.
Responsibilities
- Conduct security assessments, code reviews, and penetration testing on client projects
- Design and implement security controls for web applications, APIs, and cloud infrastructure
- Develop security requirements and guidelines for engineering teams
- Review architectures and provide security recommendations early in the development process
- Implement authentication, authorization, and encryption solutions
- Set up security monitoring, logging, and alerting
- Respond to security incidents and conduct post-mortems
- Stay current on security threats, vulnerabilities, and best practices
- Prepare security documentation for technical due diligence processes
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in security engineering or application security
- Deep understanding of web application security (OWASP Top 10, common vulnerabilities)
- Experience with security testing tools (Burp Suite, OWASP ZAP, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of authentication/authorization protocols (OAuth, SAML, JWT)
- Experience securing cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Proficiency in at least one programming language for security tooling
- Understanding of compliance frameworks (SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA basics)
- Excellent communication skills to explain security risks to non-technical stakeholders
Nice to Have
- Security certifications (OSCP, CEH, CISSP, or similar)
- Bug bounty hunting experience or CVE discoveries
- Experience with infrastructure security and DevSecOps
- Background in startup environments with fast-paced development
- Experience preparing companies for security due diligence
